Monaco vs Monza: two F1 fantasy problems, two different sixes
Copy-pasting last week’s podium into this week’s street race is how you finish midfield in a league of 12.
Monaco is a Saturday sport
Overtaking is scarce. Qualifying order is the race order unless someone hits the wall or the pit crew drops a wheel. P1–P3 can follow Q3 more closely than at any other round.
DNF risk is walls and hydraulics, not tyre cliffs. Pick the messy garage or the driver who has already kissed the barrier in FP3.
Monza is a slipstream sport
Tow, DRS, and a low-downforce package shuffle P2 and P3. Fastest lap is often a late new soft from a car that is not fighting for the win. Do not give fastest lap to the championship leader on autopilot.
Reliability still matters: engines are stressed, and a DNF here is often a puff of smoke not a turn-one pile-up.
One template is not a season
Build a street-circuit six and a power-circuit six as starting points, then apply this weekend’s grid. F1RaceDraft only opens the current Grand Prix. You cannot ‘set and forget’ Italy during Monaco.
