Qualifying, grid penalties, and last-hour F1 fantasy changes
The grid is not the classification. Penalties, parc fermé, and a damp warm-up still rewrite P2.
Start with the Q3 order, then subtract
Pole is the cleanest P1 input you will get all weekend. Second and third in qualifying are not automatically P2 and P3 on Sunday — especially if one car takes a gearbox drop or a pit-lane start.
Check the stewards’ documents, not social media captions. A five-place drop from P4 is a different race to a pit-lane start after a parc fermé breach.
Use the last hour
F1RaceDraft locks five minutes before lights out. That window is for penalties and weather, not for reinventing the six. If you are still swapping P1 at T-minus-8, you never had a P1.
A driver starting 15th with race pace is a DNF or fastest-lap thought, not a secret P3. Do not ‘punt’ them into the podium because a group chat got loud.
Wet warmup, dry race
A damp reconnaissance lap scares the field into safety-first podiums. If the radar clears, the quali order usually comes back. Flip your six only if standing water is still on the racing line with ten minutes to go.
