10 F1 fantasy mistakes beginners still make
You do not lose because you “don’t know F1.” You lose because you treat Sunday like a highlight reel.
The list
1. Copying the drivers’ championship into P1–P3. Standings are slow. Qualifying is fast. 2. Leaving a slot empty. Incomplete teams do not enter the league. 3. Waiting for the formation lap. You are already locked. 4. Stacking both cars of one team on the podium and both as DNFs. That is one story, twice. 5. Picking fastest lap as the championship leader every week.
6. Using last year’s Monza result for this year’s car. 7. Ignoring grid penalties posted two hours before the start. 8. Building Spain during Italy. The next GP is closed until this one finishes. 9. Assuming a DNF pick is wasted on a clean race — last two classified still score. 10. Never opening the league board, so you never see you failed to enter.
A cleaner habit
Saturday: fill a draft six after qualifying. Sunday morning: apply penalties and weather. T-minus-15: final pass. T-minus-6: stop touching it. Then confirm the league field includes your name.
Read the how-to-play guide, then lock the current Grand Prix. That is the whole sport on this site.
